Wow, that is so jarring to read. I have never been a proponent of the transvaginal sonogram law, it just doesn't make sense. But I never thought of it in the sense that these women who are forced to undergo this procedure are being legally raped (legal in the sense that it is the legal definition of the word) in a legal manner (legal in the sense that the law allows it). This is beyond nightmarish. This is twisted.
My answer:It’s so, so twisted and beyond messed up. I love Texas, I really, really do (hell, I dedicated a whole blog to it) but we’re seriously backwards in some areas where we really can’t afford to be.

Okay, I saw your comment on the sonogram law. No one is forcing someone to undergo a transvaginal ultrasound. 98.8% of the ultrasounds can be performed normally and noninvasively. Get over yourself. Texas supports life and believes that if you want an abortion, you should know what the hell you're aborting. Don't go spreading ignorant lies about a great state.
My answer:TRIGGER WARNING: RAPE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, MISOGYNY
Hahaha oh my God. Ohhh jeeze. Women* who are having abortions know what they are aborting. Women* realize that when they have an abortion, they are removing cells from their body that may, if normal gestation were an option for her*, be a viable infant outside of the womb. Can you read, anon? I hope you can because this is why you’re 100%, factually, categorically WRONG: http://www.legis.state.tx.us/billlookup/text.aspx?LegSess=80R&Bill=HB15. Women* in Texas who seek abortions DO have to undergo a transvaginal ultrasound. This is NOT the jelly on the belly ultrasound that you might be thinking of. This is where a wand is inserted FORCIBLY (yes, anon, anything against someone’s will is FORCIBLE) into a woman’s* vagina, regardless of circumstance. That means that if a woman is seeking an abortion due to rape or incest, she has to relive the traumatic experience again by having something forcibly inserted into her body. Moreover, a transvaginal ultrasound is NOT necessary for a safe abortion. Can you name any other instance where someone has to undergo a medical procedure that is completely superfluous before they undergo a different procedure? If you can, I’d love to hear it. In Texas, your option is this: “Let me insert this wand into your vagina or no abortion for you. Oh, this will be a traumatic experience for you because you’re a survivor of sexual assault? Ok, no abortion for you. Enjoy carrying your rapist’s child to term!” This is reprehensible in all cases, even when women are not victims of rape or incest. Women seeking abortions are informed. They know what they’re doing. Most of them ALREADY have children. Did you know that, anon? Do you know Texas’ definition of rape, anon? This is one part of the definition: “(a) A person commits an offense: if the person intentionally or knowingly causes the penetration of the anus or sexual organ of another person by any means, without that person’s consent.” BY ANY MEANS. That means forcing women to undergo transvaginal ultrasounds is, according to Texas law, technically rape. Maybe you should check your facts before you message me with your ignorant, sexist (yes, it’s sexist to imply that a woman* doesn’t know what is growing in her uterus), bullshit.
Also fuck you and fuck off forever.

Hey y’all! Sorry for the lack of updates, and sorry that this new one is a bit on the serious side, but it’s important! If you haven’t heard of Texas House Bill 15 yet, it states that any person seeking an abortion must first undergo a transvaginal ultrasound. This is invasive and an unconstitutional breech of the right to privacy. If you’re near the capital city, I encourage you to head out to the March Against the War on Women (click to be taken to their website). If you can’t go to the actual march, be sure to donate, or make your voices heard through your vote. Help women fight for their reproductive rights! Don’t Mess With Texas Women!

Woohoo! Happy Texas Independence Day!
